A simple fix for helping kids clear their place at the table

One of the things I feel very strongly about is that kids with limited mobility should be required to do as much as possible for themselves. This past week, I was trying to figure out how I could enable Lily to clear her own place at the table when I remembered a microwave cart we used to use for the medical supplies in her room. I grabbed the cart and did a little experiment.

Using microwave cart to clear table for children with disabilities

It worked *nearly* perfectly. She needs a little help getting the cart over uneven surfaces (like the squishy mats we have in front of the sink), and I sometimes need to prompt her to walk around the cart first and THEN grab the plate to put it in the sink. But…she is doing it! So exciting! :)
